The Pathways To Free Education Collective began as a converged as a group of people who wanted to continue discussing and planning the non-partisan movement and struggles for free education. During its active years, 2016 – 2021, the collective published four publications, mobilised campaign projects, and held an autonomous cultural space and library. All of which are preserved in the Pathways To Free Education Teaching Tool, a collective memory project produced by the collective in collaboration with Revolutionary Papers.
Aluta Continua! Aesthetics of the Nigerian Left authored by the Movement Lab Collective is a visual book that unearths some of the most iconic letters, posters, pamphlets, and ephemera from the Archives of the Nigerian Left. Presented by one of its editor’s, Sa’eed Husaini, the book offers an alternative history of Nigerian democracy; one written not by politicians and generals, but by the people who organized, resisted, and refused to forget.
The two recently published books by Hana Morgenstern, Cultural Co-Resistance in Palestine/Israel: Anticolonial Literature and Radical Print and A People’s Literature in Palestine/Israel: An Anthology of Anticolonial and Socialist Writing, both focus on the revival of the Palestinian cultural scene by Arab Jewish and Palestinian Communist intellectuals after destruction of the Nakba, the lessons of that period for co-resistance, as well as the role of culture in the movement for a free Palestine (and world!) today.
The long-awaited, Forty Years of the Children’s Movement, 1983 – 2023 (Mandela University Press 2026), authored by the movement’s co-founder Marcus Solomon and compiled and edited by Koni Benson, follows the journey of an organisation that forged its way through countless achievements and challenges to protect the most vulnerable of our society. The Voice of the Children teaching tool created by Mishca Peters follows the history of the movement’s journal, co-produced by youth members from as early as 1987.
Revolutionary Papers is an international, transdisciplinary research and teaching initiative on anticolonial and anti-imperial periodicals of the Global South co-convened by Koni Benson (UWC), Hana Morgenstern (Cambridge), and Mahvish Ahmad (LSE). It explores how these publications supported social, political and cultural reconstruction amidst colonial destruction, building alternative networks and circulating new political ideas.
